Since it’s independence day we thought what bett Since it’s independence day we thought what better theme than this? Since the flag includes canary yellow & a bolder blue/teal, we would suggest going with pastel versions of these colors instead for a wedding... this is a theme we want to flirt with but not marry! Anchor the design with white core elements (draping, chairs, vases/centrepieces, charger plates and signage) then let the blue & yellow have their moments in the bouquets, soft furnishings & signature drinks. As much as we love incorporating black into weddings we would avoid it on this occasion to keep it softer & more feminine. You don’t want it to feel like a novelty theme or too over the top where it becomes tacky. This is the perfect theme for St Lucians living abroad who want to honor their heritage and can be adapted to fit all styles from rustic to contemporary-chic. 🇱🇨

Throwback to 2 years ago today when we transformed this ballroom for the milestone prime ministers ball. Events this year of course cannot go ahead but we hope to work with the PM and his team again when normal returns 🙌🏽 what a fabulous night and an honor it was to win this contract over seasoned industry veterans- a truly proud moment for By Charlie and our decor partners @by.choice.designs
And on it goes... @allenmchastanet spoke yesterda And on it goes... @allenmchastanet spoke yesterday and whilst shops can open again & beaches continue to be crowded at weekends, restaurants still can’t have dine in customers and weddings are still limited to 25 persons despite the fact we would have much more control over our environments. With time flying more wedding clients have cancelled or had to reschedule due to the uncertainty of the next few months meaning for now there is little end in sight for us. Before the address I had taken a few days to write directly to the ministry of health & relevant government officials to address the lack of support or even acknowledgement we in the events industry have been given during this pandemic & now for a year.of public announcements. Whilst we empathize for the restaurant owners, we planners don’t have the option of takeout service to keep us afloat or a ‘lite’ version of business- events are all or nothing and sadly we have not been addressed once during this pandemic. Whilst we 100% appreciate the pressure these officials are under and that they are only doing their job in limiting events, (nor is this pandemic nor local spread their fault IMO) we cannot continue much longer without at least a light at the end of the tunnel. We - the planners- are not the only ones severely impacted by these restrictions- our decor team, venues, florists, entertainers, lighting partner, caterers, tenting team, serving staff, photographers and various others are reliant upon these events to support their families too. I covered the letter up because what’s in it isn’t relevant, we just ask @saintluciagovernment @dominicfedee & the ministry of health to remember our sector in this economically devastating time 🙏🏽 @stlucianewsonline @stluciatimes @travelsaintlucia
Happy valentines to our team, clients, followers, Happy valentines to our team, clients, followers, friends and fellow planners. There hasnt been too much to celebrate this past year so make today special whether you’re celebrating the love of your partner, kids or the big important one in these times... self love. Get a takeaway or indulge in that dish you love so much, open a bottle of wine, pop on a facemask and watch a movie. However you spend it, enjoy it. Stay safe and stay home 💖
Even when jetting off for your dream wedding here Even when jetting off for your dream wedding here in St Lucia , there are still ways to support small , local businesses in your area and include them in the ‘transportable’ elements of the day.
If your wedding party are hosting a pre-trip bachelor/bachelorette party for you, request that they use local vendors. Small, family owned catering companies often create the most delicious buffets made with love. If the pandemic allows, hire a small private area in a local restaurant / bar/club for the event or book a local experience for the group such as a spa day in an independently owned salon.
Why not buy your wedding party some home made or customized gifts and certainly consider etsy for your bridesmaid dresses. They are custom made, 100% customizable and about 1/3-1/2 of the price of other large brands, all whilst supporting a small business.
When printing invitations, menus and thank you cards, search for a local company to design & produce these (and keep them uniform pleeeesse- guests take their outfit cue from the invitations).
Many couples getting married abroad don’t have a full wedding gift registry due to the investment being made by guests to attend.... but if people insist on asking what you’d like, consider gift certificates from local stores instead of large chain stores.
If you have a local, regular hairdresser that you like to support & who knows your hair, have them do your color before you travel (plan timing correctly to avoid roots on the big day). Work with them to try out your wedding day hair style then take 100000 pictures and videos to guide the hairdresser abroad. Ask them for the specific tools & items used to ensure you bring anything necessary.
Have your guests book their travel through a local, independent travel advisor- I will post about the perks of this later in the week (so many)!!!
There are plenty of ways to still support small businesses but the one we love most? Scrap the guest favors and instead donate that money to a local charity. On each menu add a line such as “In lieu of favors we have made a donation to xxx in your name”
Whether you’re able to do your job from home or Whether you’re able to do your job from home or not, we all have a lot more time in than normal at the moment so why not make it productive. Its january after all, the never ending month that sets the tone for the rest of the year. Need some inspo? Take a look at our top 5 time passing tips for lockdown (non work)

1-declutter your life- can be long and daunting but SO rewarding when done! You may rediscover items you love and those you don’t can be sold, up cycled or donated to others in need. Go through old paperwork, file what’s to be kept & destroy then dispose of anything else. Get into those kitchen cabinets- do you really use 20 mismatched serving plates or need 30 mugs? NO!

2-refresh your space- people hear $$$ signs when I say this but it doesn’t have to cost a dollar, move items around, even rearranging shelves can freshen up a space. Move furniture or swop items between rooms. If you have items that you don’t love anymore spray paint them- give candlesticks, photo frames and ornaments a whole new lease of life. Print some newer pictures and update the ones in your home

3- deep clean. Can it sound tedious and be hard work... yes! Is it SO satisfying at the end... bigger yes! Deep clean your bedding, clean the mattress and give it some sun, give every surface a dust and wipe down. Get to those windows you’ve been putting off, get that oven & stove sparkling new, grab an old toothbrush and get those grout lines in the shower done. Get your home looking, feeling & smelling amazing. (Some loud music and a glass of wine helps during this one we find)

4- quality family time- as simple as it sounds. Time you’d usually be at work or too busy or tired... give it to your spouse, kids, parents, siblings... whoever! But make memories together whilst you have a rare opportunity to do so. Play board games, watch movies, cook together, TALK... we dont mean small everyday chit chat- really talk

5-indulge yourself- whether thats in a good book, a long bath, the kitchen, bedroom, garden or getting lost in netflix. Lets find some positives & enjoy ‘me time’ in this chaotic time. Catchup with friends on phone / video calls!
