We have a few kids parties booked with various themes so we were so excited to connect with partyville store on amazon and find these amazing high end party gift bags- 6 colors, 5 of each meaning you get a total of 30 bags for under $18usd! They arrived and I couldn’t be happier… well packaged, great quality and for once a decent size bag plus they already have a tag on. The bright , bold colors work perfectly with most themes and can be customized with ribbons, stickers or vinyl to enhance the finished product.

Just before covid hit we’d finally started to do work on our house- it is very much a “fix up” project here and my to do list is as long as my leg .

Whilst many/most items remaining require carpenters,tilers & heavier work -so will have to wait- there are a few elements that I just wanted to see done for my own sanity. When i went through my entire to-do list for projects I could DIY, one area kept shouting out for my help which was my patio. With two kids who want to be outside as much as possible and with a husband known for his grill skills , I wanted to give the area a little TLC to allow us to better enjoy & utilize the space. The main difference you will notice is the change in the couch.The dark wood chair frames are perfect so just gave them a good scrub but those red cushions against my yellow house has always screamed McDonalds to me so I knew that had to be my focus. Full upholstering of the items was too much for now as it would need sunbrella fabric plus the cost for labour & transport.

Using old drapes I had that were not being used (therefore $0) , I had some basic drawstring covers made which can be removed / washed and should last me until a full job is possible. Spraying some old lanterns and adding some small odd pieces of home decor I had, has given this area a much needed mini makeover.

Before you assume that a job is a no go or will cost a fortune see what you have around the house & give it a new lease of life. Whether it be old sheets, curtains or whatever else- REPURPOSE!

End of the week but beginning of a new month, whilst we don’t have typical seasons autumn/fall here on island -one of the things i actually miss- it’s still time to start thinking about holidays…. Halloween and CHRISTMAS (for those new here I am Christmas crazy)

Times are still hard for many with Covid so start your christmas shopping or at least budget & gift planning from now to get the best prices and spread out your spending a little. Last minute gift buying is NOT the one! Make a list of everyone you NEED to buy for and some ideas. Black friday sales at the end of november maybe the place to get them or perhaps you can start picking little bits up as you see them from now. Having 2 kids means a lot more to buy nowadays as our friends have kids also. If times are hard consider agreeing between you not to do christmas gifts this year and instead get them all together in december for a fun day. Consider making gifts or gifting people an experience over something materialistic. Just make sure these plans are mutual or it could result in an awkward one way gift giving scenario….

For my sons friends we will be making christmas cookies and treats to give out if hes back in school, keeping it personal but low cost. Our kids will each get about 5 santa gifts i know theyll use each instead of lots of junk that ends up in boxes or drawers plus one gift from mum & dad & one to each other.

With lockdown here still in effect at weekends and since its getting colder in other countries, october is also the perfect month for movie and game nights. We like to make a nice dinner and play monopoly or watch a movie

The lounge is a work in progress as when we moved in I LOVED grey but now find myself drawn much more towards warmer shades of taupe and natural materials. Once covid eases up, I intend to add a natural jute rug in place of the black /grey and bring in some more ivory & taupe cushions plus some wicker /wood elements to soften the area and balance the grey couches… I still love stark white walls and black furnishings so the overall look will eventually be modern industrial with touches of farmhouse, I will update to show what an impact these minor changes will make hopefully soon….
