HAPPY NEW YEAR and for those of you not on my social media, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas. My parents were over for a few weeks hence the reason I’ve been somewhat quiet, between them and it being the baby’s first Christmas I took a little time off to relax and enjoy – hence the radio silence.

In the past I always did the whole “New Year, New Me” thing, but this year I decided to make a few realistic aims instead of 10 empty resolutions. In 2016 I intend to:

1- Be More Positive – In business I am practical and organised, but can be very pessimistic when it comes to problem solving in my personal life – always thinking of the worst-case scenario! I am actively working on changing this by my 30th birthday in March!!! (eeek)

2- Work/Life Balance – This is the first time I’ve really had to balance 2 such important parts of my life. My son is my priority but I always have been (and always will be) very career focused so learning to balance the two effectively is going to be an important focus and a learning curve for me during 2016.

This is going fairly well at the moment- but I know will get harder as work pressures mount. Currently I’m waking up between 5:30-6am typically for playtime and breakfast, then while he naps I get ready for my day and from 8/9am until 3/4pm I’m at my desk. Once he’s tucked up in bed I’m watching “Making a Murderer” (amazing series) and planning his (the baby’s – not the murderer’s) birthday party. This event (naturally as an event planner and first time mummy) started as a few sandwiches and is now a jungle themed extravaganza that he will have NO recollection of whatsoever!!!

3- Strong Body, Strong Mind – To achieve number 2, rest and relaxation is also important, alongside taking care of myself, health and body wise. Gym membership ready, healthy recipes found and vitamins purchased! As I enter my 30’s I also intend to reclaim my old grooming routine and get back to the Charlie that always did her hair in the morning, picked out an outfit that couldn’t be categorised as Pyjamas or Gym Wear and – at the least – took the time to apply mascara and lippy before leaving the house. The dishevelled look and “I’ve just had a baby” excuse has now firmly expired and it’s time to look somewhat professional (or at the very least civilized).

So… what the title should say is… New Year, Same Chapter, Better me!!!!

In the world of work, things seem to be coming along nicely, learning and experiencing more of St Lucian business life – both good and bad!! Just landed a HUGE contract that I will announce shortly once paperwork is in place and I can confirm it officially!!! This will keep me super busy along with the weddings I have booked in!! Can’t wait to share more information soon.

Check back soon, I’ll be writing another post this week about how to give your house a new year clear-out, it feels amazing to get all the old junk out and start the year with a clear, clutter free and organised space! Now off to meetings…
